Schenectady County committee forwards $103,078 in state OMH funds for supportive housing

The Schenectady County Committee on Health, Housing and Human Services voted to report to the full legislature a resolution accepting $103,078 from the New York State Office of Mental Health to support local supportive-housing services.
Keith Brown, director of public health, told the committee the money is an amendment from the state that will be passed through to community providers and listed RSS, the YMCA and Mohawk Opportunities as recipients. "Supportive housing is incredibly important for our service array," Brown said, adding that extra resources are a "real value add and big time return on investment."
A motion to report the resolution to the legislative floor was made and seconded; the committee approved the move by voice vote. The resolution will next be considered by the full legislative body during its agenda vote.
