Erie County Council approves $497,755 election-integrity grant appropriation, several salary ordinances and two appointments

The council also moved to table Ordinance number 72 (procedure recorded on the agenda) after a motion to table and a recorded roll-call vote. A series of appointed-official salary ordinances (including ordinances referenced as numbers 73, 74 and related items) for positions such as county clerk and assistant public defender were read and approved by roll call as presented.
Under new business the council read first readings of several 2026 salary ordinances (numbers 77–83) for county executive positions including director-level posts (human resources, finance, administration and public defender offices). The body approved Resolution 34 (2025) to finalize the 2026 solicitor contract for the Office of the Clerk of Records and Resolution 35 (2025) for the controller solicitor contract; both were moved, seconded and recorded as approved. Council also approved Resolution 36 (tentative lease agreement with Sandy and Norman Beatty for office space for Magisterial District Judge Jeffrey Gadley) and Resolution 37 (intergovernmental transfer agreement between the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Office of Long Term Living and Erie County).
The council approved the possible appointment of Henry Chiapa to the Erie County Planning Commission (term to expire 12/31/2027) and the appointment of William S. Jeffress to the Erie County Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Commission (term read as expiring 12/31/2025 with notation the member will be appointed for a four-year term in the coming year).
The clerk announced the reorganization meeting of county council for Monday, Jan. 5, 2026 at the Erie County Courthouse. The meeting adjourned after the scheduled agenda items.
