The San Juan County Commission adopted a resolution Dec. 30 authorizing a 3% cost-of-living increase for specified elected county officers for calendar year 2026.
County staff explained the increase must be adopted by resolution under Utah code. The resolution covers the county attorney, sheriff, clerk-auditor, assessor, treasurer, recorder and surveyor. Commissioners explicitly left themselves off the resolution at their own request, and the vacant judge position was not included pending appointment and the state’s statutory wage-setting process.
No members of the public spoke for or against the increase during the hearing. A motion to approve the resolution was moved, seconded and passed by voice vote.
