CIO Nikkita Pilani gave a brief investment performance update, reporting the pension plan was up about 4.28% fiscal‑year‑to‑date (through the preceding Tuesday) and the Health Care Trust up about 5.31%. Pilani credited trustees’ asset‑allocation decisions for driving performance.
CEO John Flynn provided staffing and operational updates: he introduced Amanda Hu as a new program manager on the ORS admin team and said Na Nguyen will join as an accountant on Nov. 24. Flynn reported three open positions in the benefits department (two analyst positions and one staff specialist), active recruitment and plans to hold first‑round interviews in January. He also summarized procurement activity (contracts being routed for signature), a finalized service order for executive search, completion and occupancy of Suite 560, and retiree‑open‑enrollment volumes that exceed recent averages.
Trustees asked about governance‑ and strategic‑planning next steps; Flynn said trustee interviews are complete and stakeholder surveys and liaison interviews remain before a final strategic package to be presented to governance committees and the full board in December.
No formal action was taken on staffing items; trustees requested additional updates at future meetings.
