The Commerce City Council voted to approve several operations and maintenance items on Dec. 16, including a property sale and a wastewater equipment purchase.
Council approved a resolution to sell city-owned property at 1520 Pecan Street (Property ID 54401) to DNE Auto Supply. Staff said the parcel sits immediately south of DNE Auto and the buyer intends to improve parking and possibly expand in the future; staff recommended approval to return tax-foreclosed properties to the tax rolls.
The council also authorized the city manager to purchase a clarifier gear drive for the wastewater treatment plant from Southwest Fluid Products Inc. for an amount not to exceed $175,000. Public works staff explained the procurement as a budgeted, sole-source replacement because Southwest Fluid had previously replaced clarifiers at the plant and holds relevant design information. Staff said the parts must be custom manufactured and that lead time will be required but the replacement is proactive to avoid failure.
Both items were presented by staff, motions were made and seconded, and each motion carried on a voice vote. The purchase was described as budgeted for fiscal year 2026.
The council did not provide a roll-call tally in the meeting transcript; the official minutes and purchasing documentation will record exact vendor and contract details.
