The Public Employees Retirement System of Mississippi board approved coverage requests from four entities and certified two employers as delinquent during its Dec. 15 meeting.
Mister Yarborough, reporting for the claims committee, said Shady Grove Utility District, Town of Bolton, Town of Scuba and ‘Pearl and Leaf River Rails to Trejo recreational’ applied to join Social Security and retirement coverage, each to be effective Feb. 1, 2026. “I’ll bring that forth as a motion,” Mister Yarborough said; the board approved the motion by voice vote.
The committee also brought forward certification of two delinquent employers — the Town of Goodman and the Town of Chula — and requested that legal take steps to recover amounts from state funds due to agencies. The board approved that certification and request by voice vote.
The motions passed by voice vote; the board made no further public comment on the amounts or the legal steps expected.
