Kankakee County board clears consent agenda, approves reappointments and two rezoning requests

The Kankakee County Board on Dec. 9 approved a slate of consent items including reappointments to county committees, code amendments, equipment purchases and two Zoning Board of Appeals rezoning requests.

Clerk's reading and motions covered reappointments such as Eric Blair (reappointed to the Geographic Information System Committee), Laurie Gadboi (county recorder of deeds, reappointed to GIS committee), Greg Bridal (county engineer, reappointed to GIS committee), Craig Long, Larry Kurtstra, Scott O’Brien (Emergency Telephone System Board), and appointments including Michael Dolphin to the Kankakee County Zoning Board of Appeals and Randall Chaplinski to the Kankakee Regional Land Bank Authority. The clerk also read a list of code amendments (hotel/motel occupancy tax and recorder fraud referral review process) and vehicle purchases to replace older trucks.

On planning matters, the board approved ZBA case 25-08 (rezoning a 10.01-acre parcel owned by AB Wendling LLC from A1 to A2 in Limestone Township) and ZBA case 25-09 (rezoning a 10-acre former homestead from A1 to A2 in Sumner Township to allow sale to Chance Marcotte and spouse); planning and zoning recommended both approvals.

Earlier in the meeting the claims committee reported October claims totaling $11,302,012.08 and the board approved that report by roll call.

Before the consent vote, an unidentified board member requested a presentation from the Kankakee Regional Land Bank about prior county funds (the member cited $487,000) and progress on specific properties (the Jaffee property); the chair agreed to schedule that update.

Motions to combine and approve the consent agenda were adopted by roll call; where votes were conducted by voice the clerk recorded 'motion carries.'
