The Village of Golf Manor council adopted Ordinance 2025-6 on third reading, updating the village’s property-maintenance rules to the 2024 edition of the International Property Maintenance Code and clarifying methods of service for citations.
Mayor Pro Tem Zachary Michaelson presided over the vote. The solicitor described amendments to the service provisions so that posting a notice on a residence would be a final method of service after attempts at personal or certified-mail service. As the solicitor summarized, the change makes posting “the final method” after other methods fail.
Council moved to read the ordinance by title only and proceeded to adopt the code. There were no recorded objections during the voice/roll-call process; members present responded in the affirmative and the ordinance passed.
The action replaces the village’s prior reliance on the 2018 edition and is intended to streamline enforcement and clarify notice procedures. The ordinance includes a requirement that posting is only effective after attempts at personal or certified mail service, according to the solicitor’s reading.
The council did not attach additional amendments to the code during the meeting. The ordinance takes effect as provided in the adopted text and will be posted with the village’s legislative records and on the council website.
The council moved next to the annual appropriations ordinance and other items on the agenda.
