St. Lucie school board approves consent agenda, OKs out-of-district travel and schedules town hall

The St. Lucie County School Board conducted routine business at its December meeting, approving the consent agenda and an out-of-district travel item by unanimous votes.
During the consent portion, an unidentified board member moved to adopt the consent agenda and the motion carried 5-0 following a superintendent recommendation. Later in the meeting, the board approved Item 18.1, approval of out-of-district travel, again by a 5-0 vote.
Superintendent remarks recapped recent community engagement, including the Port St. Lucie and Fort Pierce holiday parades and a district 'prize patrol' visit to six schools to recognize first-year teacher finalists and other educator finalists.
Board member Miss Richardson highlighted the opening of Westwood Academy and invited the public to a ribbon-cutting and tour on January 6 at 9 a.m. She also announced a district town hall on December 11 at 6 p.m. at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church (1306 Avenue E) to provide follow-up information and hear community concerns; board members were reminded they may attend but should avoid public group discussion under Sunshine law.
Both votes were procedural and carried without recorded opposition.
