South Colonie Board unanimously approves minutes, policy changes, tax report and personnel actions

The South Colonie Central School District Board of Education handled several routine but consequential items at its Dec. 9 meeting, voting unanimously on minutes, policy updates, tax reporting, personnel changes and other recommended actions.
A motion to approve the minutes of the Nov. 12, 2025 regular meeting (moved by "miss Gabriello," seconded by "mister Keane") passed with a recorded vote of 9 to 0. Christopher Larrabee, chair of the policy committee, moved to approve recommended policy revisions (following guidance from the New York State School Boards Association policy committee); the board voted 9 to 0 to adopt the committee's recommendations after Dr. Perry clarified that the term "abolish" referred to policies, not positions.
Miss McAllister presented the annual tax collection report showing roughly 97% overall collections for the district and individual town collection rates reported as 98.36% and 95.36%; the board accepted the report and approved the list of uncollected taxes for submittal by unanimous vote. The tax levy figure discussed during the meeting was reported as $83,000,000.
Administration presented reports and recommendations (letters an) that included several discovered construction conditions at the high school; staff said two major items accounted for roughly $600,000 combined in unexpected remediation costs. The board approved the reports and recommendations, again by a 9-0 vote.
Dr. Perry presented instructional personnel changes (new hires, replacements for resignations and leaves), and support personnel updates, including additional driver substitutes and one termination for attendance reasons; the board approved both instruction and support personnel motions 9-0.
The board also approved a resolution recognizing Human Rights Day (Dec. 10) and voted unanimously to enter executive session to discuss an employment matter.
All votes reported in the transcript from this meeting were unanimous 9-0. No formal budget appropriations or new contracts were approved during the open session.
