Robertson County School Board approves contract addendum, budget amendments and Woodall Elementary roof replacement
Summary
The Robertson County School Board unanimously approved a contract addendum for Director of Schools Dr. Weeks, two budget amendments (including a $2.3 million request from fund balance for capital projects) and awarded a roughly $2.1 million contract to replace the roof at Robert F. Woodall Elementary.
The Robertson County School Board on Dec. 8 approved a contract addendum extending Director of Schools Dr. Weeks’ contract to Nov. 30, 2028, and approved two budget amendments that officials said will fund upcoming capital work, including a full roof replacement at Robert F. Woodall Elementary.
Dr. Weeks told the board the district’s revenues and expenditures were being monitored and that, despite timing differences early in the fiscal year, staff are “not concerned about the numbers at this point in time.” He presented an amendment requesting a transfer of $2,300,000 from the fund balance to capital outlay to pay for the Woodall roof and aesthetic repairs at Greenbrier Elementary; he noted the transfer would be carried to the County Commission and requires two readings there.
Board members approved the fund-balance amendment (motion to approve by Connie Hogan; second by Jeff White) and later a smaller housekeeping balanced amendment to adjust local revenues and expense lines (moved by Steven Ayers; second by Demetria White). Both measures passed on unanimous recorded voice votes.
On the Woodall roof, staff described a Sourcewell-sourced proposal and warranty options. The presentation listed a base estimate near $2,090,000 and a total figure shown in the packet of $2,097,637. The board voted to accept the bid and proceed with the work (motion made on the floor and seconded by Connie Hogan). Officials said they chose a 20-year warranty option for the project and that work would proceed alongside the approved budget process.
Votes at a glance: consent agenda approved (motion by Steven Ayers; second by Scott Rice) — passes 6–0; Dr. Weeks contract addendum approved (mover: Jeff White; second: Demetria White) — passes 6–0; $2.3 million fund-balance budget amendment approved (mover: Connie Hogan; second: Jeff White) — passes 6–0; housekeeping balanced amendment approved (mover: Steven Ayers; second: Demetria White) — passes 6–0; award of roof replacement at Robert F. Woodall Elementary approved (mover: Unidentified Speaker; second: Connie Hogan) — passes 6–0.
The board was told the district expects to bring related budget items to the County Commission for the required readings. Dr. Weeks said, assuming revenues continue to come in as projected, the district’s fund balance should remain healthy.
