Local youth archery team thanks commissioners, highlights national titles and growth

"We've got 2 that are national champions here," Burnett said when commissioners asked to recognize athletes in the audience and he identified Riley McKinney and Ashley McKinney by name. He described program participation (S3DA and ASA circuits), age divisions, training benefits and the team’s reliance on county access to the shooting range to host indoor and outdoor tournaments, which also raise funds for team needs.
Commissioners thanked the coaches and suggested bringing the national champions back for a formal recognition and photograph. Burnett presented a small token of appreciation from the team to the commissioners and asked the county to continue providing access to the gun range; he also solicited suggestions for facility enhancements.
What comes next: Commissioners and staff agreed to coordinate a future recognition event for the team and to gather suggestions for improvements to the county gun range to support tournaments and youth programming.
