Board members used the meeting to highlight student and staff achievements across the district. President Ferrante introduced Curtis Broadwater of Pocomoke High School as the December honoree and praised his national recognition as a JROTC cadet captain and recipient of a Legion of Valor Bronze Cross Award.
Dr. Wallace and Tamara Mills presented winners of the district holiday card contest; the superintendent and executive team selected a student image for official district cards and winners across age groups received framed originals and small gifts. Art teachers described the winning pieces (watercolor, collage, acrylic painting) and an honorable mention made from recycled wallpaper.
Representatives from Worcester Technical High School presented SkillsUSA awards and named state officers and award recipients; Rick Stevens and other advisors praised students’ leadership development and competitive successes. The board also recognized Tyree Thornton as the district’s December 'heartbeat' honoree for custodial leadership and mentorship at Pocomoke HS.
These recognitions were presented as informational items; no board votes were required.
