Facilities committee outlines $60—$70 million of needs; board to weigh a revenue-neutral bond option
Summary
The facilities committee reported an estimated $60—$70 million backlog of infrastructure needs and said the district has roughly $7.5 million in capital reserves that could support a revenue-neutral bond in the low $20 million range; trustees set committee meetings in January and February to refine scope.

The Cornwall Central School District's facilities committee reported Dec. 15 that a review by the construction manager and the architect produced an estimated need of roughly $60 million to $70 million in infrastructure and maintenance projects districtwide.
"In short, it's about $60,000,000—$70,000,000 in total projects," the facilities committee chair told the board during a brief committee update. Committee members said current capital reserves total about $7.5 million (the transcript identifies two reserves totaling roughly $7.5 million), and that, using state-aid assumptions, the district could support a revenue-neutral bond in the low $20 million range without increasing taxes.
Why it matters: The committee framed the figure as addressing deferred maintenance and required work rather than new amenity projects. If the board pursues a bond, decisions about scope and whether part of the bond would carry a tax increase will determine voter support and the district's capital plan.
Next steps and schedule: The facilities committee set three meetings (Jan. 8, Jan. 21 and Feb. 5) and plans additional analysis with the district's financial advisors. The committee said it will return recommended scopes and financing options for board consideration and will update the public calendar when locations are set.
