Board adopts 2026–27 budget calendar; will revisit polling-site question in January after turnout analysis

The Cornwall Central School District Board voted Dec. 15 to adopt the 2026—27 budget calendar but committed to a follow-up discussion in January over where district residents will cast ballots.

Board member Christian asked the board to "leave the polling site open" in the calendar so trustees could consider a more centrally located polling place (the high school) or adding a second location. Christian presented an analysis of poll-book turnout across electoral districts and told the board that a resident living in Cornwall/Hudson "is about 2.5 times more likely to vote than someone living in New Windsor," a disparity he characterized as a material turnout distortion.

Other trustees urged adopting the calendar now and agreed to schedule a January agenda item for a fuller discussion; the board accepted Christian's offer to lead the follow-up and to circulate his data. The motion to adopt the budget calendar carried by voice vote with one abstention and seven votes in favor.
