Community development director reports Woolsey rebuild progress and permit deadlines

At the Sept. 15 meeting the Planning Commission heard a report from Community Development Director Yolanda on ongoing Woolsey-fire rebuild activity and planning staff changes.
Yolanda said the city has received 129 Palisades rebuild applications: 60 have been approved, 11 are in building- and-safety review, two have permits and are under construction, and staff are working with about 97 properties currently under construction. She said two additional certificates of occupancy were issued in the past two weeks and that counter hours are available at Malibu City Hall on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon to assist rebuild applicants. Yolanda also noted the city added two contract planners to help turnaround time and reminded residents that the deadline to obtain building permits tied to planning verification for Woolsey rebuild projects is Nov. 8, 2026.
She announced an upcoming special council meeting at 10 a.m., a rebuild expo hosted by the Palisades Chamber of Commerce on Sept. 28 at the Santa Monica Bay Woman's Club, and an Oct. 8 deadline for Small Business Administration disaster-loan inquiries. Commissioners thanked staff and acknowledged the update.
