Hudson officials push back on misinformation, outline MGT enrollment study and February boundary schedule

Nick summarized materials the district has posted online and said the district has discussed consolidation in public forums since 2022. "We have made data driven decisions," he told the board, and said the district will publish the updated enrollment study from MGT on Dec. 8 and walk the board through yield rates for new housing and other assumptions.
On a recurring claim that the district intends to hold 16 acres for a future school site, Nick said the district’s annexation petition does not reserve the parcel for a school and that the district’s intent is to sell the property when annexed and utilities are available. "There is not a, an intent to hold on to the property and build another element or anything like that," he said.
The district addressed concerns about class sizes and boundaries, reiterating that class-size guidelines would remain intact (K–2: 18–22; grades 3–5: 22–27) and that boundary work aims to keep neighborhoods together to avoid splitting families. Staff explained the boundary committee will use MGT’s software to model about 250 planning zones and produce boundary scenarios that the public can respond to; the district said it hopes to set attendance-boundary parameters so kindergarten/4K registration (and kindergarten roundup) can occur in February after boundaries are set, with board action anticipated Feb. 9 or, if needed, Feb. 23.
Staff described outreach and staff-planning steps: a staff survey will open Dec. 1 and run through Dec. 8; workgroups will focus on transitions for students with disabilities and other implementation details. Board members reiterated concerns about timing and emphasized continuing public engagement.
Next steps: MGT will present its enrollment study and boundary-modeling approach at the Dec. 8 meeting; staff will publish supplemental materials and schedule boundary-committee sessions for public input.
