At its Nov. 20 meeting, the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach approved a broad package of ordinances and resolutions covering planning amendments, design standards, public-safety equipment and multiple service contracts. Most items passed on voice votes or unanimous tallies; several required only ministerial action and no public comment.
Key adopted items included the first-reading transmittal of a comprehensive plan text amendment addressing future land-use definitions and development upper limits; a first-reading ordinance establishing a reasonable-accommodation procedure for certified recovery residences (to comply with state law); second-reading adoption of architectural and design standards that included moving exterior color rules into the land development regulations; an ordinance creating anchoring rules for vessels in city waters; and a budget amendment closing out the prior fiscal year. The commission also approved a suite of operational resolutions: surveillance installation at the Intercoastal Sports Park; purchase of field-force gear; renewal or revision of maintenance contracts (HVAC and agenda/website services); lease of copiers; timekeeping software; two Ford F-150 trucks; a boat-lift installation amendment; drainage repairs; a left-turn conversion road project; a month-to-month parking license with Chabad Lubavitch; the 2026 meeting schedule; an NLC delegate appointment; and historic-preservation board appointment processing.
