Lee County board moves planned items to December agenda, discusses energy storage moratorium and chicken ordinance

The county approved a motion to move the 2026 comprehensive noxious weed work plan — a state‑required filing — to the December county board agenda. Nancy moved and Tom Kitson seconded the motion; the board carried it by voice vote.
The chair also presented three appointments to the Lee County Sheriff’s Merit Commission (Dana Considine, Henry Gurtis and Arlen Rami/Barami). Tom Wilson moved and Tom Kitson seconded a motion to move all three nominees to the December county board agenda; the motion passed by voice vote.
County Services Chair Jack reported his committee will bring an energy‑storage (formerly described as 'battery storage') moratorium to the full board. The committee is preparing language to align local regulation with recent state changes and to rename the measure to 'energy storage systems.'
The board previewed other agenda items including zoning petitions, administrator updates, an appropriation resolution for Brooklyn Road, two budget adjustments for the sheriff and judges, and the continuation of "the famous chicken ordinance" (ordinance 25‑pc‑80), which will be held over as previously discussed.
At the end of the meeting the board approved the proposed county board agenda by voice vote.
