Gulf County authorizes chairman to sign interlocal agreement to secure industrial park closing

County legal staff told the commission Nov. 20 that closing on the county’s industrial park acquisition is time-sensitive because of clouded title and existing city ordinances that may have to be rescinded. The county attorney asked the board to authorize the chairman to sign an interlocal agreement committing the city to move forward with rescission within 45 days, permitting the county to rely on that commitment and proceed to close on the contract.
Commissioners voted to authorize the chairman to sign the interlocal agreement. The motion was seconded and carried unanimously. County counsel said he would present a simple interlocal to the city and request matching action at the city’s next meeting to align schedules for closing and to resolve the title issue.
The board also received an update on litigation notices related to alleged bacterial contamination under a bridge; staff said they had notified the insurer and the city and will continue working with claims adjusters.
