Red Bank highlights seven citizen advisory boards in Community Development mid‑year presentation

Director Leslie Slay’s mid‑year Community Development presentation opened the Red Bank work session with a video credited to Slay that described the role and membership of seven citizen advisory boards and invited residents to learn more at www.redbanktn.gov.

The presentation, delivered with an AI‑generated narrator for accessibility, said the boards provide staff support and public input on land use, cemetery stewardship, nonprofit partnerships, festivals, parks and recreation, and public art. It listed the Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals, the Cemetery Advisory Board, the Nonprofit Advisory Board, the Festival Advisory Board, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, and the Public Art Advisory Board and named members of each.

City staff asked the commission to consider funding options during the FY27 budget cycle to support staffing and tools that help advisory boards advise on planning, preservation and community events. The mayor thanked the volunteers present and noted the city’s seven citizen advisory boards have 53 volunteer members.

The presentation also highlighted recent public‑art projects (a first mural at Kids Corner, art‑wrapped utility boxes and a student art competition) and community events such as the Jubilee and the Christmas festival. Staff said materials and the recorded presentation will be posted on the city website for public access.

The commission did not take a formal vote on funding during the work session; staff said formal budget proposals for FY27 will be brought forward in the budget process.
