Oak Harbor honors outgoing councilmember Jim Wiesner and promotes two police lieutenants

Oak Harbor — The City Council on Dec. 16 recognized Councilmember Jim Wiesner for eight years of service and hosted a police lieutenant promotion ceremony.
The council presented Wiesner with a plaque and multiple tributes from colleagues and staff praising his leadership and institutional knowledge. Wiesner thanked the council and community for the opportunity to serve.
Police Chief Tony Slowick introduced and swore in two lieutenant promotions. Matthew Krasinski and Jeremy Sopnick each took an oath accepting promotion to lieutenant and offered brief remarks thanking mentors, family and colleagues. Slowick described their backgrounds: Krasinski brings 28 years of public‑safety experience, and Sopnick joins Oak Harbor after two decades in public safety and service outside the area.
These ceremonial recognitions preceded the council’s business session and drew family members, staff and community attendees.
Quoted: "I'm truly honored and privileged to be here tonight and accept this promotion," one newly promoted lieutenant said during brief remarks.
