Trish Kaylor, the district’s art department chair, introduced AP studio student Ruby Baylor to describe the district’s participation in the America250 bell project. Students in AP classes submitted sketches that were combined into a single design, approved in Harrisburg and sent to bell-makers over the summer.
Kaylor said the bell’s artwork emphasizes Pike County’s natural beauty and tourism assets. Ruby Baylor was identified as taking a leadership role in painting the bell; the board was given a sneak peek and told the public unveiling is scheduled for Dec. 6 at 3:00 p.m. during Belford’s tree-lighting ceremony. The bell will be permanently displayed outside the Milford Welcome Center.
Board members responded positively and thanked the students and staff for their work.
