Hickman County adopts resolution asking state to name section of Highway 100 for Chief Shannon Irwin

HICKMAN COUNTY — The Hickman County legislative body unanimously adopted Resolution 25-33 on Nov. 24 to request that the Tennessee General Assembly designate a portion of State Highway 100 East in Hickman County as the Chief Shannon Irwin Memorial Highway.

The resolution, sponsored by Commissioners Ron Puckett and Devin Pickard, memorializes Chief Shannon Irwin’s service to Centerville and Hickman County and asks county leadership to furnish certified copies of the resolution to state lawmakers, including Senator Carrie Roberts and Representative Jody Barrett (as listed in the resolution text), so they may draft and sponsor enabling state legislation.

Commissioner Pickard invited Sydney Irwin and family members and asked law-enforcement representatives to come forward; the body recognized the Irwin family and Chief Irwin’s service. The resolution text as read directs the Tennessee Department of Transportation to take steps required to effect the designation if the state law is enacted.
