The Village of Cross Plains Board of Trustees on Dec. 15 adopted a resolution recognizing the service of municipal judge Jerome A. Gertz on the occasion of his retirement after nearly four decades on the bench.
The board read and adopted a formal resolution commending Judge Gertz’s ‘‘integrity, diligence and unwavering commitment to justice’’ and offering best wishes for his retirement. The resolution was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
Residents and longtime court clerks addressed the board during public comment. Lisa Davis submitted a written comment praising Gertz’s fairness and 37 years as municipal judge. Becky Ward, who said she once served as his court clerk, told trustees she had ‘‘learned so many things’’ working with him and thanked him for mentoring staff and sharing stories about his family and career. Board members acknowledged Gertz’s additional service as a former village president and involvement with the Stingray swim team.
The resolution states it takes effect upon passage and publication and congratulates Judge Gertz on his retirement. No further personnel action was taken at the meeting.
