Mayor's appointment of Chris Harding as deputy fire chief set for regular agenda

“As y'all recall, 6 or 7 months ago, we created the new position for the deputy fire chief. I would like to have chief Harding appointed to that position and start him on January 1,” Chief Johnson said. He told the council that creating the deputy position increases manpower by one and that the department has two applicants to fill the resulting openings; the recruits are expected to attend the academy with minimum-manning targets later in the spring.
Council placed the appointment on the regular agenda for formal consideration; no advisory consent vote occurred at the committee meeting.
