Finance officer Mister Conzo told the committee the city’s draft tax levy ordinance proposes a 2.9% increase for calendar year 2025, aligned with the consumer price index, and noted the levy package includes appropriation details and municipal compliance reports.
“You'll see it's still at 2.9%, which is the consumer price index,” Conzo said and called attention to compliance reports showing the need to better fund the police and firefighters’ pension funds. He emphasized property taxes are one of several revenue sources and that the city’s share of property tax has declined since 1999.
Conzo said the public hearing on the tax levy will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Dec. 15, with the annexation hearing to follow at 6:05 p.m.; the levy item will be placed on the regular agenda for action following the hearing.
