Bruceville-Eddy EDC swears in four directors; board reappoints treasurer and secretary

The Bruceville-Eddy Economic Development Corporation on Tuesday swore in newly appointed directors and quickly moved to reestablish its leadership team.
Mayor Linda Owens and the city secretary administered the oath of office to newly appointed directors, after which the board voted to reappoint Patsy Doody as treasurer. President Darren Weaver moved to reappoint Doody, and Ginger Tolbert seconded the motion; the board approved the motion by voice vote. Weaver also moved to retain Sondra Prater as EDC secretary and nominated C.W. Wharton for vice president; members affirmed those nominations.
Treasurer Patsy Doody reported the EDC checking account balance at $62,070.51 and said $3,500 has already been set aside. Doody told the board she had withheld spending because she was not yet satisfied with a vendor product: “Currently, we have $62,070.51 and such that those monies have not been spent yet because I have not been satisfied with the product as it's been presented to me.”
The board approved minutes from meetings on May 13 and Aug. 4, 2025, after a requested correction, and moved on to substantive agenda items including a priorities ballot of proposed economic development projects.
The board did not set a final date for all 2026 meetings during the session; directors agreed to finalize dates after meeting with the incoming city manager.
