Bruceville-Eddy says it won $225,000 GLO grant to fund new comprehensive plan

City Administrator Lawrence Cotrone said the city has been awarded a $225,000 grant through the GLO to support production of a new comprehensive plan.
The award will fund consultants to help the city draft the plan, Cotrone said, and the consultants’ portion of their fee will come from the grant award when contracted. He said the process will involve community surveys and open workshops and could take about a year to complete.
Council members and staff discussed a recent introductory meeting with MRB Engineering and Tabers (or Taber) Associates, who delivered materials and walked through the draft report included in the staff packet. Cotrone said the consultants will help produce maps and visual materials for public workshops to gather residents’ input on housing, transportation, parks and economic development priorities.
The council did not take a vote on the plan at the meeting. Staff characterized the grant as an opportunity to build a road map for future growth and said they would bring detailed proposals and timelines to future council meetings and workshops.
