Board approves routine items, ratifies expulsions and employee suspension

The Lincoln County Board of Education voted on a series of routine and disciplinary items during its Oct. 21 meeting at Hart's Pre K-8.
On procedural and consent business the board approved the minutes, accepted the superintendent’s consent recommendations (items a–d), approved a slate of policies following a 30‑day review (policy numbers listed in the meeting packet), authorized payment of bills, approved financial requests and ratified personnel items. All routine motions passed by recorded vote and were announced as carrying 5–0.
The board entered executive session to discuss student discipline beginning about 6:25 p.m. and returned to open session at about 6:52 p.m.; the meeting record states no decisions were made while in executive session. Following the return to open session the superintendent recommended that the board ratify previously imposed expulsions for students labeled "a" through "d" in accordance with "West Virginia Code 18‑a‑5‑1a and 61‑7‑2" and West Virginia Department of Education Policy 4373. A motion to ratify those expulsions was made and carried by recorded vote 5–0.
The board also ratified a previously imposed three‑day unpaid suspension of a service personnel employee dated Oct. 3–7, 2025. The employee was named in open session as Amy Adkins. The motion to ratify the suspension was made, seconded and carried 5–0.
The board adjourned at approximately 6:55 p.m. and scheduled its next meeting for Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. at Midway Elementary in Allen Creek.
