Mason council adopts M-36 corridor plan after rejecting motion to table; passes other routine items

After a motion to table the resolution to gather more public input was moved and seconded, the council voted 2-5 against tabling the measure. A subsequent motion to adopt the resolution passed 5-2. One council member said the public input received to date was not representative; another council member responded that the plan is a guiding document and that there would be ample opportunity to vet specific elements if and when projects are proposed.
The meeting included several other routine approvals. The consent calendar was approved unanimously, 7-0. Council members also took up Amended Ordinance 266, which would add a new Technology Innovation "M3" zoning district by adding section 94-153 to chapter 94 of the city code; the amended ordinance was introduced and approved on first reading, 6-1.
