Bridgeport council unanimously adopts 2026 budget, tax rate and fee schedule

Bridgeport Borough Council on Dec. 16 adopted its 2026 budget and several accompanying finance measures, voting unanimously on each item.
Council members voted 6-0 to adopt the borough’s 2026 budget after staff said the final draft required no further discussion. The council also passed Ordinance 2025-05 establishing the municipal tax rate for 2026 and Resolution 2025-36 adopting the borough’s 2026 fee schedule. In short motions that followed staff reports, the council approved a series of governance resolutions setting council and committee meeting dates for 2026 (Resolution 2025-32 for council meetings; Resolution 2025-33 for finance committee meetings; Resolution 2025-34 for community events) and Resolution 2025-35 establishing borough office holidays.
Council also authorized the tax collector agreement (Resolution 2025-37) and approved payment of bills and salaries for December 2025. On each of those items the record shows a motion and second followed by an “Aye” vote and a 6-0 outcome.
The votes closed out the borough’s legislative business for the calendar year; with formal adoption of the budget and related measures, the borough’s tax and fee structure for 2026 is in place and administration may implement the adopted schedule and rates.
What’s next: with the 2026 budget and tax rate adopted, staff will proceed with implementation and the council will reconvene under its 2026 meeting calendar. No public comments were made on the budget at the meeting.
