Beaver County approves 2% 401(k) employer match starting January

Beaver County commissioners voted Dec. 16 to authorize a 2% county match on employee 401(k) contributions, a benefit county staff said will be funded by reductions in legacy tier‑1 retirement contributions as positions turn over.
County staff explained the match will be calculated on employees' base salary only; overtime and other pay differentials will not be included in the matching calculation. Staff told commissioners the policy change will allow better budgeting of employer contributions and is intended to help employees save for retirement.
Commission discussion noted that employees have already increased their own payroll contributions in anticipation of the county match, and staff said the match would be ready to begin in January. A motion to approve the resolution (recorded in the meeting as Resolution 2025-20) was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
The commission did not record a roll-call tally in the transcript; the action was approved during the meeting and staff will implement payroll changes for the match according to county payroll timelines.
