Staff recommended relocating or removing a roof skylight that would be visible from the right of way and asked the applicant to revise color and roofing choices that would create a stark 'white siding/dark trim' contrast previously found inappropriate in other approvals. Architect Sam Pinnick (speaking remotely) said the ADU on site already uses the same palette and that they would coordinate to reduce contrast; he told the commission they'd relocate or remove the contested skylight if staff finds it visible from the street.
The commission adopted the staff resolution with conditions including a revised siding color to reduce contrast, relocation or elimination of the right-of-way-facing skylight, and confirmation of compatible roof materials. Commissioners emphasized that skylights should not be 'physically prominent from the street or neighboring windows' and that stonework should terminate at interior corners unless it can be shown to read as structural rather than decorative.
