Resident Nolan Murray described downtown renewal, investment in parks and community spaces, and the city’s partnership with nonprofit housing efforts: “The city has helped us buy lots, get our funding in order … People want to move to Sandusky,” Murray said while presenting a plaque from the local Habitat for Humanity chapter recognizing the city’s partnership.
City Manager John Orzech thanked outgoing commissioners and staff for their service and noted a $300 payroll-deduction donation from Commissioner Waddington to the city greenhouse. Several other residents — including Aaron Blair and Naomi Twine — offered brief tributes praising the commissioners’ leadership.
The meeting closed with personal remarks from commissioners reflecting on accomplishments ranging from economic revitalization and festival programming to pandemic resilience. The president then called for a motion to adjourn, and the commission recessed.
