Riverwoods approves $10,500 for additional engineering and construction work on Saunders Road water main

Trustees approved a retroactive $10,500 payment to consulting/engineering firm GHA to cover additional services tied to the Saunders Road water-main replacement.
Director Witt described complications encountered during construction: potholing on the East side of Saunders Road revealed that a county force main was too close to the village water line, requiring a redesign and additional construction oversight. "We discovered that the county's line... was actually too close to the water line to allow the valve fault to be set there," Witt said, explaining the redesign and rebidding process and the need for extra monitoring and patchwork on the roadway.
The board moved and approved the supplemental payment by roll call; recorded "Aye" votes in the meeting minutes included Trustee Raff, Trustee Smith, Trustee Trevino, Trustee Clayton, Trustee Eastman and Trustee Jamieson. Staff said most of the additional work had already been completed prior to committee presentation and requested approval primarily to formalize payment for the completed services.
Director Witt and staff will continue to monitor the reconstruction work and provide follow-up reporting to the board as needed.
