Board reorganizes leadership, recognizes students and staff, hears public comments

At the start of the meeting the board completed its annual reorganization for 2026: Chair Wright will continue as board chair, Miss Schumacher will remain vice chair, Angelica Wood was nominated and confirmed as clerk, and Josh Sorensen was nominated and confirmed as treasurer.
The board then recognized student representative Jane Feldbaum and multiple student-athletes and staff members across district schools for academic and extracurricular achievements. Administrators also acknowledged employees who reached 10 years of service.
During public comment, Sharell O'Driscoll urged civil discourse and recommended a short self-help title for teens; Jamie Watts spoke in support of board volunteer Matt Gardner and asked that personnel-related matters be handled through the superintendent’s office rather than the public microphone. The board reminded speakers about updated public-comment procedures and the option to submit written materials to the superintendent for confidential or case-specific matters.
The consent agenda and routine motions (including approval of the meeting agenda) were moved and seconded and carried by voice vote. The board adjourned at 10:25 p.m.
