Sherman ISD honors students and staff, approves consent agenda and adjourns

After reconvening from closed session, Sherman ISD trustees led the pledges and recognized Fairview Elementary student council leaders and student successes in recent robotics competitions. Staff highlighted that the Sherman High School robotics team took third at the Grayson College Viking Best Robotics Hub Competition and earned awards for design, spirit and exhibit presentation.
Julie Kerr introduced museum and alumni volunteers and recognized their role preserving district history. The board honored staff and volunteer awardees for November — Caitlin Gregory (elementary teacher), Steven Schutz (secondary teacher), employee of the month Cassie LaFoyte, volunteer Amanda Rich, and Golden Apple winner Austin Garman (who received a $750 check from Texoma Chevy dealers).
Chief communications officer Megan Kung announced more than $2,300 in donations on behalf of community donors (Shockley State Farm, Pioneer PTA, Dent Mechanic Group) to support district programs. A trustee provided a construction update on completed punch‑list items at elementary schools and ongoing work at Sherman Stadium and early‑childhood facilities.
The board approved the consent agenda as presented (motion and second recorded) with no items pulled for separate discussion, reviewed upcoming events and adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
