Lincoln council approves fire-squad rebuild, sewer upgrades and small-business grants

At its Dec. 1 meeting the Lincoln City Council approved several routine capital and economic-development items by roll call.
The council authorized a repair/rebuild of fire department squad 5100 at a cost not to exceed $18,907.75. City staff described the work as a full rebuild: "It is a rebuild. It's a complete rebuild." The motion to approve was made, seconded and carried.
Council also approved a variable-frequency-drive upgrade for the sewer blower building at a cost not to exceed $100,750, and renewed a certificate of deposit in the sewer O&M fund for a seven-month term at 3.59 percent. Two economic development grants were approved: one to Shivan O M d/b/a Fifth Street Food Market for up to $7,500 for an exterior door replacement, and one to Tammy Rich Miley d/b/a I G Y Thrift for up to $7,500 for a half-roof replacement.
An amended lease agreement for office space between Lincoln Economic Advancement and Development (LEAD) and the City of Lincoln was also approved. Each item was moved, seconded and passed by roll-call votes recorded in the meeting transcript.
The council did not attach additional conditions to the approvals in the meeting record; staff will proceed with vendor coordination and required purchasing steps.
