Coffey County commissioners on Dec. 30 approved a one-year extension of the county's in-house engineering services agreement with Keith Browning Engineering LLC.
Road and Bridge superintendent Brian Durst recommended extending the contract, saying the firm has been "a good asset for us and doing some good things for us." Commissioners clarified the term before voting: the contract will run Jan. 1, 2026, through Dec. 31, 2026, and otherwise carries the same provisions as the prior year.
A commissioner made the motion to authorize the chairman to sign the agreement; another commissioner seconded. The motion carried on a voice vote. The chairman will sign the contract and staff said the contract will be in effect for the 2026 calendar year.
The extension is intended to preserve continuity in county engineering support for Road and Bridge projects and other in-house needs. No dollar amount for the contract was specified in the meeting record.
