Downtown Show Low, Arizona — The City of Show Low marked the arrival of 2026 with its annual New Year's Eve celebration on Dec. 31, 2025, highlighted by the town's traditional 'deuce of clubs' card drop, a live-streamed program featuring the mayor and local officials, on-site games and fireworks at midnight.
The emcee opened the live broadcast for the City of Show Low and encouraged online viewers to share the stream and participate. "We are in the beautiful White Mountains of Arizona, beautiful Show Low, Arizona," the emcee said while pointing out the Show Low Public Library behind the stage and inviting visitors to enjoy hot cocoa, photo booths and prize games. The host noted about 78 people were tuned in on Facebook Live during the evening program.
Mayor (identified by title only) joined the emcee onstage; when asked about a highlight from 2025 the mayor said the year included many good moments and mentioned officiating his daughter's wedding. The mayor joined the final countdown and, with the crowd, welcomed 2026. "I'm ready. Let's go," the mayor said as the group began the countdown.
Organizers acknowledged public safety personnel on site. The emcee publicly thanked Show Low Police Department and the Timber Mesa Fire Department for helping keep the celebration safe. The program also included community moments such as birthday shout-outs, on-site games (a spinning prize wheel) and a photo booth. The emcee announced a lost ID for a person named Yvette had been left at the City of Show Low tent so it could be reclaimed.
As part of local tradition, the host explained that Show Low celebrates the new year by dropping a deuce of clubs playing card, a reference to the town's name origin tied to the turn of a card. With minutes to midnight the emcee led the crowd through the final countdown; at the stroke of midnight attendees cheered as fireworks were set to begin.
The emcee closed the event by thanking city staff, volunteers and first responders for putting on the celebration and wished attendees a happy new year. "2026 is here," the emcee said, adding thanks to the City of Show Low and everyone who helped make the night happen. The program ended with a brief reminder that the event had been live streamed for those watching remotely.
