The Mountlake Terrace community commission approved its October minutes and voted to add Jewish American History Month to the city’s list of proclamations for May 2026.

At the start of the meeting, Unidentified Speaker 5 moved to approve the minutes from October, a motion seconded by Unidentified Speaker 2; a voice vote was held and the chair declared the motion carried. Later in the agenda Unidentified Speaker 5 moved to add Jewish American History Month to the proclamation calendar for May; the motion was seconded and the chair said the motion carried.

Commission members discussed that adding a proclamation does not require an event but could be accompanied by a modest program or speaker. Unidentified Speaker 4 suggested consulting with a rabbi to identify an appropriate first proclamation and possible programming; members noted that a small library speaker or humanities organization talk would be an appropriate way to mark the month.

Other agenda items included planning for a May heritage event, selection and onboarding of community ambassadors, and updates from commissioners on outreach and local partnerships. The meeting closed after planning next steps for ambassador onboarding and confirming the next meeting date.
