The Lassen County Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution authorizing the county’s tax sale schedule and related procedures. The tax collector said the public auction will begin May 15 and close May 18; parcels not sold in the public sale will be offered via sealed bids in a June pre-offer window.
Tax-collector staff said about 49 parcels are currently scheduled to go to public auction, and 31 parcels are set for sealed bids. Staff explained sealed bids are typically used for parcels with limited access or small, landlocked lots where a public auction is not practical; in those cases the county first offers the parcel to adjacent property owners.
Tax-collector staff also reminded the public that delinquent taxpayers have until 5:00 p.m. the day of the auction to cure delinquencies and avoid sale. Supervisor Bridges moved to adopt the resolution; Supervisor Ingram seconded, and the board adopted it by voice vote.
Next steps: staff will publish the list of parcels and post auction information on the county website and in county buildings.
