Board hears Iowa HHS termination notice for regional ECI contract; services to continue under county oversight for now

The Board of Health informed the supervisors that Iowa HHS has issued a termination letter to the ECI Lakes Region Board, which will change how early-childhood intervention services are administered regionally.
Board of Health representatives said the termination letter came from Iowa HHS and the change is scheduled to take effect Jan. 14. Under the transition described in the notice, Iowa HHS intends to contract directly with the County Board of Health; Health Board members said services would continue for now while the county schedules follow-up meetings to clarify administrative and funding details.
The Health Board official gave no firm end date for funding and said they will provide updates once state officials and county staff meet to iron out the new contracting arrangement.
