Chickasaw County proclaims November 2025 as Operation Green Light for Veterans

The Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors on Nov. 3 adopted a proclamation declaring November 2025 an observance of Operation Green Light for Veterans and agreed to place green displays at county service buildings Nov. 4–11.

The measure, put forward during the board's regular meeting, was introduced with a proposal to display green felt or adhesive-backed green lighting on courthouse and public-health fixtures and to distribute education and resource information to the public. A member of the board noted donated materials would be used to install temporary green displays and remove them after Nov. 11.

Lisa, who read the proclamation during the meeting, said the declaration recognized “the residents of Chickasaw County have great respect, admiration, and utmost gratitude for the men and women who have selflessly served our country.” The proclamation also cites national figures and studies on veterans’ transitions and stresses county participation in the National Association of Counties’ Operation Green Light initiative.

Supervisor Steve moved to adopt the proclamation and Supervisor Travis seconded. The board approved the proclamation by a 4–0 roll-call vote, with Supervisor Isaac Carter absent.

The county clerk and staff will coordinate installation of the displays; officials said materials donated by local residents and staff time will cover the modest implementation. No additional budget appropriation was requested at the meeting.

The board’s action means county service buildings will join a broader national recognition effort and local outreach tied to services for veterans through the Nov. 4–11 observance.
