Madison County to raise Winterset dispatch costs with Winterset conversation planned; budget session moved to avoid training

On the budget, county finance staff explained the FY26 budget work remains ongoing and that some month-end accruals and system reconciliations remain unfinished. The board discovered that active-shooter/threat-assessment training for county employees conflicted with a scheduled Dec. 2 9:30 a.m. budget session; supervisors voted to reschedule the Dec. 2 work session to 1:30 p.m. to accommodate training participants and to ensure staff can attend.
Board members directed staff to continue preparing line-item expenditure information and to identify potential departmental savings in case legislative changes require cuts; staff said they would circulate schedules and contact information for follow-up.
