Chickasaw County supervisors on Dec. 15 adopted Resolution 12‑15‑25‑56 to amend the county’s fiscal‑year 2025‑26 appropriations, including a plan to use TIF bond dollars for a TIF‑eligible project.
At a public hearing the board heard no written or oral comments. County staff summarized changes as including a $60,000 intergovernmental agreement line, $5,000 for printing, adjustments for sheriff training and EMS insurance, planning commission insurance, and a $612,000 line that staff said includes $600,000 of TIF project funds to be used for a county project. The hearing was opened and closed by unanimous roll call votes and the board then moved to adopt the resolution.
Board secretary Sheila Sheffington prepared the resolution and provided supervisors with a packet showing the amendment’s effect on departmental budgets. After discussion, Supervisor Steve moved to approve the resolution, Supervisor Travis seconded, and the board recorded the adoption by roll call. The chair announced the resolution had been adopted.
Because the amendment reallocates bond/TIF money for a project, supervisors said staff will coordinate next steps with the bond attorney and follow required public‑notice procedures for any project that uses those funds. No members of the public spoke at the hearing. The board set related public‑hearing scheduling and paperwork tasks for the bond attorney and county staff to complete before project initiation.
