County engineer’s Addison Avenue resurfacing plans approved; signatures to be shared with Howard County

Mitchell County’s county engineer reported at the Nov. 3 Board of Supervisors meeting that rain has delayed dirt work on a McIntyre bridge repair and that only one excavator remains on site. The engineer also presented plans for an Addison Avenue resurfacing project being coordinated with neighboring Howard County and asked supervisors for approval and signatures so the plan sheet could be sent to Howard County before its board meeting.
A supervisor moved to approve the Addison Avenue resurfacing plans (project sheet presented by the engineer). The board voted and the clerk recorded unanimous affirmative responses during roll call; the motion passed and the chair authorized signatures so the engineer could transmit the signed title sheet to Howard County prior to that board’s meeting.
The engineer said once the soil dries enough contractors will resume dirt work, then proceed to guardrail installation, and that he would return for follow-up as the project progresses. No funding appropriation or formal contract award was recorded at the meeting; supervisors approved the final plans and authorized staff signatures.
