Board approves Iowa DOT preconstruction agreements for resurfacing along Iowa 330

Secondary roads staff described two Iowa DOT preconstruction agreements the board approved on Sept. 24 that will include county paving of approaches to a DOT resurfacing project on Iowa 330. Staff said the agreements cover separate sections (noted in the agreements as 2026-CD-008 and 2026-CD-022) and include approach paving at intersections such as Canfield, Davidson, Durham, 295th, Ingram, 265th, Jessup, 250th and Knapp.
Staff said DOT will include the approach paving as part of the primary-road resurfacing contract, which improves safety by preventing edge ruts and keeps county motor graders out of the traveled way during maintenance. The project was described as slated for letting next year and county payment will occur after DOT closes out project accounting (sometimes two to three years after completion).
A supervisor moved and the board authorized the chair to sign both preconstruction agreements during the meeting; both motions passed by roll call.
