Louisa County honors deputies and dispatcher involved in out-of-county homicide apprehension

County leadership read a letter from Sheriff Jason Thiel of the Brown County (Minn.) Sheriff's Office thanking local personnel for their role in locating and apprehending a suspect wanted in a double homicide in Minnesota.

The letter, read at the meeting by Speaker 1, praised local responders' professionalism and credited their actions with providing closure in the case. The sheriff wrote that, "If it had to be done all over again, I would want the same people in the same positions," and extended thanks on behalf of Brown County for the apprehension.

Certificates were presented to dispatcher Delaney Parish, Sergeant David Norcross and Deputy Mitch Griffin (noted as involved in the chase and apprehension). Speakers described how a regional license-plate-recognition camera and cross-jurisdictional coordination led to the suspect being located, an ensuing chase, recovery of a shotgun used in the murders and extradition to Minnesota. The presenters said there were no injuries to officers; the case will continue in Minnesota, where the suspect faces charges.

The board recognized the personnel with certificates and photos; no policy action resulted from the presentation.
